GoToMyPC User for Three Years and Still Happy

By

I’ve been using the remote access computer software GoToMyPC for over three years now, and I’m still a happy customer for several reasons.

Reasonable price

GoToMyPC has several plans available, from a $99 1 user account and up. This pricing makes the service very affordable.

The one user plan allows one user to access a computer remotely. Essentially the price increases by $9.95 per user/computer. Access is unlimited, meaning you can access your remote computer anytime you want, whether it’s for 1 minute or 14 hours. If you pay annually, you get a discount. (I do!)

Excellent security

According to their website, GoToMyPC protects the data transferred with 128-bit AES encryption and is protected by end-to-end user authentication. I’m not technical enough to know what that means. What I do know is that it requires two passwords to gain remote computer access so I don’t have to worry about my password being cracked. They’d have to get both and the chances of that happened are so remote I don’t even worry about it.

Easy to use

Logging in is as simple as using my desktop shortcut and typing in my password. Using my remote computer is simple and it feels as if I’m sitting in front of my office computer. Everything I would have access to on the computer at the office is available to me. I can even copy and paste between computers, and drag files onto my home office desktop from the office computer. Printing is easy too. I can print to the office printer or to my home office printer, by choosing my printer from a drop down list of printers.

Very reliable

I’ve never had an incident where I couldn’t access my computer remotely. Finally, if I run into any problems, GoToMyPC offers 24/7 support and it doesn’t cost a thing.

Two viewing options

Because I have monitors of differing resolutions at the office and home, I like that I can change my view of my remote desktop. In the "fit to scale" view, I can see everything from my office monitor in the GoToMyPC window on my home monitor. In the "actual size" view, I can scroll around to see my desktop just as it is at the office. The only thing GoToMyPC is doing to my view in either case is resizing it to fit within the size available to it on my home monitor.

Finally, there is the full-screen view, which is independent of the two views mentioned above. In full-screen view, you get nothing on your home computer monitor (or whatever computer you’re using to remotely access your PC (or Mac)) except the view from your remote host monitor. In this mode, you can still choose actual size or fit to scale view.

That about sums up why I like GoToMyPC so much as a solution to my need for remote computer access. As a long-time user of the program, I can say that if there are better options available, I don’t know about them, and I don’t really care, because I’ve been well satisfied with this one. I think I would be hard pressed to find a solution that worked as well for me and fit my level of technical expertise. My computers’ security is important and I can’t risk opening them up to attack by badly set up remote access.

If you ever want to know something specific, keeping in mind that I’m not especially technical but am a long time user of the program, just use the contact information I provide on this site to send me an email. I’ll do my best to answer any questions or comments!

I had been a satisfied customer for a year before I ever even discovered I could get a commission for recommending the product to others. I would recommend it regardless, and I did for quite some time.

GoToMyPC remote access computer software

GoToMyPC is what I use for remote access of my office PC when I'm working remotely from home or from on the road.

About Me

I'm Lynn Harvey. When I started working from home, the first thing I had to have was remote access computer help from my office's "computer guy." He recommended some software for me to use, and over the past two and a half years, I've been using it to access my PC remotely.

I've learned a lot over those years and I want to share with you what I know so you might benefit from what I've learned. You can read more about me on my About page.
