GoToMyPC iPhone App is Available
Yesterday, I got the notice that GoToMyPC finally has an app available for the iPhone!
I’m excited more for the fact that it means GoToMyPC is going to mobile phones than for the fact that there’s an iPhone app for GoToMyPC. I think a GoToMyPC Android App is probably not too far away at this point. There’s been an iPad app for a while, and now that the iPhone app is out of the way, maybe the developers can spend some time getting the Android app for GoToMyPC ready to go.
Right now, you can get the GoToMyPC iPhone app at no cost from the App Store, just click the App Store button above. However, it won’t do anything for you without a subscription to GoToMyPC, which you can try free. If you need a good solution for remote access to your computer from multiple locations, GoToMyPC is a great paid solution. I like it for a number of reasons, which I detail in several different articles.
I think it should be said that the mobile phone apps for GoToMyPC might not be the most useful incarnation of the GoToMyPC software, but as an add-on extra to your regular subscription which you will likely use to access your computer remotely from another computer, having and using the iPhone app could be a great little in-a-pinch way to get connected and take care of important and urgent tasks when there’s just no other way for remote computer access. Or, frankly, if you really want to be dis-connected but have to have remote access options in case of a work emergency. And finally, for those who just can’t really leave work behind but don’t want to haul around a laptop or tablet computer everywhere they go. Then, the iPhone app for GoToMyPC might really be more than just an add-on to the regular remote access computer software.
